Galshiels Town Band
Instituted in 1834, Galashiels Town Band has played an important part of the history of Galashiels.
Our first rehearsal venue was a quarry off Kirk Brae, but now we rehearse in the Band Hall at 6a Roxburgh Street, where recent improvements include sound-proofing and the construction of a stage.
Objects (as stated in the 1976 constitution):
1. to promote interest in brass band music by giving instruction in brass band instrumental playing and by giving public performances
2. to provide musical entertainment for the pleasure and enjoyment of the community of Galashiels and the surrounding areas
Galashiels Town Band won Best Non-Contesting Band at Brass in the Park 2004, and the current average for performances and engagements is about ten a year.
At present we are a small band with ten playing members, but are always looking for new members to join.
